SIGN to tell the LNP: NORTHERN AUSTRALIA INSURANCE PRICES ARE TOO HIGH
- Premium increases of 500%
- ACCC says urgent reform needed
- Government doing nothing
People living in northern Australia are paying more than double for insurance compared to those in southern Australia.
In some areas, premiums have increased more than 500 per cent and people are paying much larger excess payments to offset skyrocketing prices.
Despite the Australian Competition and Consumer Commission recommending urgent reform, the LNP Government has done nothing.
Many of the ACCC’s recommendations could be easily implemented, including establishing a national home insurance comparison website, standardising definitions of prescribed events and applying unfair contract protections to insurance.
The LNP promised to fix this crisis. Why are we still waiting?
