Shane King is your State Member for Kurwongbah. Shane is a passionate local and proud family man, he attended Pine Rivers High and has raised his family in the area over the past two decades. A proud father to Ben, an apprentice electrician, who plays professional rugby league for the Redcliffe Dolphins. Shane supports his wife Angie who is a volunteer fire fighter in our local community. Shane is a step-father and a grandfather.
Prior to entering Parliament, Shane worked as an electrician, supervisor, safety trainer and inspector for Powerlink Queensland. In addition, he worked as a supervisor, maintenance planner and electrical maintainer in the Iron Ore mines in Western Australia.
Shane is an avid motoring enthusiast, he enjoys riding his Harley Davidson motorcycle. He is also passionate about motor racing and classic cars. He enjoys tinkering with and driving his old WB Statesman.
Shane is an active campaigner on industrial relations issues and opposed the Howard Government’s WorkChoices program and the former Newman Government’s Asset Sales agenda.
Having worked a majority of his career maintaining and delivering services for members of the public from State owned assets, Shane understands their value and fights to ensure that assets are never sold.
Shane knows first-hand the important work that front line and local workers deliver for communities. That’s why Shane supports the emerging University of the Sunshine Coast campus at Petrie, delivered the Boundary Road overpass upgrade in Narangba, secured funding to deliver a new Dakabin Station and will upgrade the Petrie roundabout.
Shane is proud to represent Kurwongbah constituents in the Queensland Parliament, both as an MP, and as Chair of the Transport and Public Works Committee.
