Scott has worked in education for the last 28 years and has been a teacher and principal in several high schools across Townsville.
Scott and his family have lived in Townsville for over 15 years and in that time has watched the city grow into a vibrant hub of North Queensland. Although growing up in Brisbane during his schooling years, Scott started his teaching in Springsure, a small country town and has progressively moved north to finally settle in Townsville. Together with his wife Jackie, he enjoys being an active dad with his two daughters at university and his son at high school.
With a successful career in education, Scott understands and appreciates the value of education and sees it as the key to success. As principal in his school, Scott is always thinking out of the box. He established a ‘boxing’ program at his school which encouraged under- achieving indigenous students to re-engage with learning by learning how to control their frustrations through the discipline of boxing.
Scott has become a strong and active leader within the community. He is a Rotarian, has been a member of the Townsville 400 V8 committee and has worked tirelessly in his school communities to promote learning. He is passionate about education and sees it as society’s gift to our future generations.
He currently serves as Minister for Resources.
