Contact Leanne Linard MP

Leanne is part of, and passionate about, our local community. She grew up in Banyo, lived in Nundah for many years, and along with her husband Ian, is now raising her two young boys in Nudgee. Leanne attended Virginia State Primary and was School Captain of Banyo State High (now Earnshaw State College). As the daughter of a RAAF pilot and engineer, Leanne has grown up knowing the value of community service.

She is an active supporter of our local community and sporting groups, School P&C and P&F associations, Neighbourhood Watch, and neighbourhood centres.  Leanne is co-chair and co-patron of the School of Hard Knocks, a member of the Australian Catholic University (ACU Banyo) Community Chapter, and a former board member of Bravehearts, and the Nundah Activity Centre.

Since being elected in 2015, Leanne’s number one priority has always been to give our community the strong voice it deserves in State Parliament. She has helped deliver funding for new and improved school facilities, road safety, public transport and community services.

For years she worked with Wavell State High School Principal and P&C to secure a $6 million commitment to build a new Performing Arts Centre. She was also able to secure funding for Earnshaw State College to upgrade their senior school facilities, increase their guidance officer hours, and install industrial fans in their hall. These improved facilities, along with road safety improvements around Boondall State School, St Pius Catholic Primary, Geebung State School and St Kevin’s Catholic Primary were among some of her proudest achievements.

As a passionate local advocate, Leanne has also campaigned strongly for improved bus and train services and improved facilities. She was able to deliver additional parking at Nudgee, Banyo and Nundah train stations, as well as a new pedestrian footbridge at Banyo.

A new $13 million 24 hour Ambulance Station and Emergency Services Complex at Geebung and the Gateway North Motorway Upgrade at Nudgee are key infrastructure projects Leanne has strongly advocated for.

Leanne currently serves as Minister for Children and Youth Justice and Minister for Multicultural Affairs.
