Julieanne is a third generation, lifetime Mackay local; she and her husband Frank currently live in East Mackay. As the mother of one daughter and two stepsons, as well as a grandmother of three, Julieanne understands the importance of education in making sure our young people get the best start in life.
Such is her passion for education, Julieanne has devoted much of her working life to our young people, first as a local primary school teacher and then as an advocate for teachers and children in North Queensland. She is particularly passionate about ensuring that all children, whatever their circumstances, are afforded the opportunity to realise their potential.
As a lifelong resident, Julieanne has seen Mackay through many ups and downs. Because of this experience, she also understands the importance of making sure that local jobs are sustainable and secure. Along with Labor’s Advance Queensland – Jobs for the future initiative, Julieanne will fight to grow and diversify jobs in the region, making sure that Mackay stays a great place for people to live and raise a family.
Julieanne serves as the Assistant Minister for State Development.
