Murray Watt - State Member for Everton

Murray was elected at the 2009 state election as the Member for Everton.

Murray and his wife Cynthia live in Mitchelton with their young son. Murray is a committed family man and understands the challenges Everton families face at home and work.

Murray was previously a senior public servant in the Queensland Government. This work history provides him with the experience to get Everton residents a good deal from government.

Prior to that, Murray was the Chief of Staff to Premier Anna Bligh for five years. He was heavily involved in many of the Government’s major reforms since 2002, such as introducing the prep year of school, and ensuring South East Queensland’s water supply is secure.

Before joining the government, Murray worked in the private sector as a solicitor for six years. He specialised in representing people who had lost their jobs or been underpaid, but also represented small and large businesses, unions, clubs and individuals.

Murray has Commerce and Law degrees from the University of Queensland.

Murray is active in the local community, and is a member of numerous local organisations including the Arana Leagues Club.

Murray is an approachable person, and has the energy and experience to get results for the people of Everton as a member of the Anna Bligh led Labor Government.
