
Geoff Wilson was elected State member for Ferny Grove in June of 1998.
Geoof Was appointed as Minister for Education and Training in 2009.
He was previously Chair of the Parliamentary Criminal Justice Committee, and a former member of the Legal, Constitutional and Administrative Review Committee.
He has worked with residents to improve traffic and public transport through support for public transport initiatives such as the proposed upgrade of the Ferny Grove Railway Station carpark, the upgrading of Samford Road, and improved bus services in the Hills District and Samford.
He has worked with local youth agencies, community and sporting organisations in improving the delivery and co-ordination of support services for young people, especially in training and employment.
Geoff has successfully represented the needs of local schools through the provision of improved school facilities.
He is a strong supporter of Brisbane Forest Park, environmental protection and the koala conservation area around Lake Samsonvale.
He successfully lobbied for the retention of health services at the new North West Community Health Centre.
Geoff was formerly employed as a union official with the Construction, Forestry, Mining and Energy Union. He holds a Bachelor of Laws and a Bachelor of Arts with honours and has practised as a barrister and solicitor.
He belongs to many local community and sporting organisations including Arana Leagues Club, Picabeen Community Association, and the Golden Valley Keperra Lions Club. He is also Patron of various local organisations. He has actively worked with the many sporting and community organisations in the Ferny Grove Electorate, resulting in many successful funding grants.
He and his wife Jan have three children.
Geoff's interests are reading, walking, running, Australian football, especially the Brisbane Lions and family activities.
