Tim Mulherin - State Member for Mackay

Tim Mulherin
Tim Mulherin was born in Mackay and has lived there most of his life.

Tim is Minister for Primary Industries and Fisheries and Rural and Regional Queensland.

Prior to entering Parliament Tim was a State organiser for the ALP and an administrative officer in the electricity industry.

He served as a branch councillor for the Australian Services Union.

Tim has been a member of the Public Accounts Committee and a member of the following Ministerial Legislation Committees: Mines, Energy and Regional Development; Primary Industries; Natural Resources and Rural Communities.

He is a patron of many local sporting and community organisations. He is also a member of the Australian Republican Movement.

Tim has delivered an additional 184 new doctors and nurses and successfully campaigned for the new $405 million Mackay Base Hospital and new hospital bridge, and the $128 million project to replace the Forgan Bridge.

Tim was instrumental in securing a $38 million commitment from the State Government for the Mackay Multi-purpose Centre as part of the city centre revitalisation strategy. Other achievements include a $43 million state government contribution to the Mackay water re-use scheme, $6 million towards the Q150 Blue Water Quay, $11.4 million Mackay Courthouse redevelopment currently underway, $2.7 million in funds under the Regional Centres Program for the Mackay Regional Botanic Gardens, and numerous grants through Sport and Recreation Queensland for sporting organisations such as the Mackay Yacht Club and Mackay Surf Lifesaving Club.

Tim and his wife Erin have three children.
