
Evan Moorhead was elected to represent the Waterford electorate in the Queensland Parliament in 2006 and was elected for a second term in 2009.
Evan is the Chair of the Parliamentary Committee of Economic Development. The Economic Development Committee is responsible for monitoring and reporting on issues in the policy areas of employment, infrastructure, transport, trade, industry development, agriculture and tourism.
Evan is also an active member of a number of Ministerial Legislation Committees including Education and Training, Employment and Economic Development and Attorney-General and Justice.
Evan is passionate about apprenticeship opportunities for young people and ensuring affordable housing is a reality for Queenslanders.
Evan is active in the local community. Evan is a committee member of the Beenleigh District Community Development Association. The BDCDA runs the Beenleigh Neighbourhood Centre, a Supporting Housing Program and the successful Skills for Life program.
Prior to entering Parliament, Evan worked as a Research Officer with the Australian Manufacturing Workers’ Union. In this role, Evan represented the AMWU in Industrial Relations Commission hearings, including improving conditions for casual workers and apprentices.
Evan graduated from the University of Queensland with a Bachelor of Laws and Bachelor of Arts. Evan completed his studies while working full-time.
Evan attended Morayfield State High School and Grace Lutheran College for his secondary schooling.
