Vicky Darling - State Member for Sandgate

Vicky Darling was elected to the Queensland Parliament representing the electorate of Sandgate, in September 2006.

Within Parliament, Vicky is a member of the Legal, Constitutional and Administrative Review Committee and has served on the Health Quality and Complaints Select Committee and the Investigation into Altruistic Surrogacy Select Committee. She acts as a temporary chair to deputise for the Speaker in the chamber.

Vicky believes that representing the electors of Bracken Ridge, Brighton, Deagon, Shorncliffe, Sandgate, Taigum and Fitzgibbon is a special privilege and an exciting challenge and these areas contain a great diversity of people in unique communities.

She will be working hard to ensure that our local communities are not left behind as the Bligh Government addresses the challenges facing all Queenslanders.

Her aim is to support and strengthen these communities so that everyone here has a sense of belonging and everyone is supported and sustained by dedicated government services and to preserve and enhance our unique lifestyle, special environment and community spirit, while providing all people with a strong voice in government.

Vicky is a member of the following local organisations:

* Member, Sandgate RSL sub-branch Citizens Auxilliary;

* Member, Zonta Club of Sandgate

* Member, Sandgate District Chamber of Commerce

Prior to entering parliament Vicky spent five and a half years in the Queensland public service, including the Department of the Premier and Cabinet and the Department of Communities. Vicky also spent four years at home raising her children with occasional lecturing at TAFE, a year and a half in the recruitment industry, including new business start up, four years in the travel industry, mostly with Flight Centre International and four years as a Federal Government advisor.

Vicky is married with two children.
