Anna Bligh - State Member for South Brisbane

On the 21 March 2009 Anna Bligh became the first female Premier elected in the history of Australia. As well as the responsibilities which come as Premier Anna Bligh is also Minister for the Arts.

She was previously Deputy Premier, Queensland Treasurer and Minister for Infrastructure.

Anna has also been Minister for State Development, Trade and Innovation.

Prior to that she was the Education Minister spending almost 5 years in this role overseeing the most significant reforms to the Queensland education system in decades.

Anna's first Ministerial responsibility was Disability Services and Families, Youth and Community Care.

Prior to being elected to Parliament, Anna worked in a number of community organisations and trade unions.

Anna graduated with an Arts Degree from University of Queensland in Social Sciences in 1980.

Anna and her family have lived in South Brisbane for more than 20 years.
